Explorys Expands its Network to Four Major Health Care Providers

CLEVELAND, OH—November 1, 2010—Today Explorys Inc., announced additional agreements with three major health care providers including MetroHealth System, Summa Health System, and University Hospitals health system.   Explorys, the leader in Dynamic Data Management for healthcare analytics and outcomes measurement, announced Cleveland Clinic as its first partner in late 2009.

“Expanding our network of participating healthcare providers, particularly within the same competitive region, demonstrates our ability to address the privacy and security needs necessary to foster cooperation between health care providers,” stated Stephen McHale, Explorys CEO.  “Now that we have proven that the model can scale, our next objective is to expand nationally.”

Explorys has already curated over a billion clinical records from its participating health care providers into a privacy protected and HIPAA compliant platform for high-speed search and analytics.  The company’s product provides a specialized data platform and applications for the healthcare industry that empowers healthcare providers, biotech, and pharmaceutical companies to improve treatment, accelerate research and product development, and enables critical measurement for performance management and drug safety.

“I am very excited as the Explorys platform offers the potential to solve many of the problems we have with traditional observational data”, stated Gregory Powell, manager of global clinical safety and pharmacovigilance at GlaxoSmithKline.

“In addition to creating a network of peers for conducting break-through research, Explorys provides health care providers with a massively scalable and cost effective dynamic data platform that enables them to leverage their expanding medical record data to identify opportunities for improving care and cost of delivery,” stated Explorys President and Chief Technology Officer, Charlie Lougheed.

“Every provider continually looks for ways to improve patient outcomes,” said Greg Kall, senior VP and CIO for Summa Health System.  “This platform will allow us to look at a comprehensive patient data set from across the region in new ways to better understand how to improve the health status of the communities we serve.”

“We are very excited to be part of this initiative as we believe it will advance our ability to carry out meaningful clinical research in the future,” said, Dr. Achilles A. Demetriou, President of University Hospitals.

“We are glad to see Explorys expand upon their vision of a connected health care ecosystem,” said Dr. C. Martin Harris is Cleveland Clinic’s Chief Information Officer.  “We see this as another strong step towards greater innovation and better delivery of care for the patients we serve.”
