CLEVELAND, OH—November 12, 2010—Explorys, the leader in cloud computing solutions for healthcare data management, analytics, and outcomes measurement, announced today the appointment of industry leader and veteran, Dr. Anil Jain as Chief Medical Officer for the company. In his role, Dr. Jain will lead Explorys’ strategies related to clinical research, comparative effectiveness, meaningful use, epidemiology, and pharmacovigilance for the company. He will continue in his roles at Cleveland Clinic where he serves as Senior Information Technology Executive and Managing Director of e-Research. At the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Jain practices medicine as a board-certified Internist and Director of Quality and Research Informatics within Cleveland Clinic’s Medicine Institute.
During his career, Dr. Jain has directed healthcare information technology solutions to facilitate clinical research, outcomes research and quality initiatives by leveraging electronic health records (EHRs) and associated clinical data repositories. He has directed numerous local and regional quality improvement projects, lead EHR based clinical decision support initiatives and supported research projects that investigate the role of information technology in chronic disease management.
Dr. Jain is also co-Director of the Biomedical Research Informatics Management (BRIM) Core in the Clinical and Translation Science Collaborative (CTSC) at Case Western Reserve University and is Co-Chair of the Information Management Committee of Better Health Greater Cleveland (BHGC).
Prior to the formation of Explorys in 2009, Dr. Jain led the development of Cleveland Clinic’s MyResearch platform that later served as the inspiration for the Explorys Population Explorer application.

In 1991, Dr. Jain received a Biomedical Engineering degree specializing in electronic instrumentation and computing applications from the Robert R. McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He went on to receive a Medical Degree from the Feinberg School of Medicine also at Northwestern University in Chicago in 1995.
