CLEVELAND, OH—February 22, 2011—Explorys today announced MedStar as the fifth integrated healthcare provider to join the Explorys network. Formed in 2009 Explorys has become the leader in Dynamic Data Management for healthcare analytics and outcomes measurement, aggregating over 1.6 billion curated clinical events within a privacy protected and HIPAA compliant model.
This agreement enables MedStar to aggregate large and disparate electronic health record (EHR) data into curated and actionable information for discovering new opportunities for research collaboration, innovative treatment, clinical effectiveness, treatment efficiencies, and safety. It provides a solid data framework for executing on meaningful use, and Accountable Care Organization (ACO) strategies for the future.
Since late 2009, Explorys has announced agreements with four other major health care providers including Cleveland Clinic, MetroHealth System, Summa Health System, and University Hospitals.
With more than 40 entities, including nine hospitals in the Maryland and Washington, D.C. markets, MedStar is the largest health system in the Atlantic region spanning over 26,000 associates and 5,300 affiliated physicians.
“The implications for research across our organization are enormous,” said MedStar Health Research institute President Neil Weissman. “The Explorys computing infrastructure enables instantaneous access to data from the health care we provide and helps position MedStar Health to become a research leader in quality, safety and comparative effectiveness.”
“We are excited to have MedStar Health join our network”, stated Stephen McHale, Explorys CEO. “This represents a major milestone for us as we extend our national presence with world class leaders like MedStar Health.”
