Cleveland ,OH – April 29, 2013 — Explorys, the leader in big data-driven healthcare transformation, today announced that Trinity Health, the fourth largest Catholic healthcare system (10th largest overall) in the nation, has joined the Explorys Network. Under the terms of this multi-year agreement, Trinity Health will implement the entire suite of Explorys’ cloud-based big data analytics solutions across its 47 acute-care hospitals, 432 outpatient facilities, 33 long-term care facilities, and numerous home health offices and hospice programs spanning ten states in order to continue improving its care of patients, residents and communities. The addition of Trinity Health and the more than 320,000 clinical encounters it delivers annually extends Explorys’ leadership position as the single largest clinical and financial data compilation in the world. The Explorys Network is already comprised of nearly 100 billion clinical, financial, and operational data facts spanning the continuum of care for a network of 14 integrated delivery systems, 200 hospitals, and over 100,000 providers delivering over $45 billion in care annually across the United States. This network empowers Trinity Health with insight into patterns and trends that enable rapid transformation of care.
After reviewing multiple platforms and considering expanding its existing enterprise data warehouse solutions, Trinity Health determined that Explorys’ big data platform could likely support its current clinical integration initiatives and quality-related goals with a flexibility that could likely support future efforts as well. Making patient data available throughout the system is key to Trinity Health’s value-based care initiatives, especially as they relate to improving outcomes, stratifying high-risk populations, predicting opportunities for cost reduction, and designing new pay-for-performance contract models.
“When we began our search for a big data analytics platform, we had three important criteria in mind: functionality, usability, and support for turning real-time data into insights at the point of care,” said Kyle Johnson, MMI, Vice President, Clinical Analytics and Integration Officer, Trinity Health Systems. “Explorys addressed each of these requirements through shared focus on innovation, continuous improvement and maintaining agility in a dynamic healthcare landscape.”
Trinity Health will use the Explorys healthcare platform and applications to aggregate, analyze and benchmark its clinical, pharmaceutical, financial, and operational data across all of its hospitals and ambulatory facilities. This will enable the system to remain competitive in its markets, while supporting key clinical integration initiatives including, Patient-Centered Medical Homes (PCMHs), population health, accountable care networks, disease management, and quality-management programs.
“We appreciate the Explorys platform’s architectural elements, especially the HADOOP-based framework, machine intelligence-driven data loading, and flexible cloud-based model,” said Johnson. “We are looking forward to seeing all it can do to support our plans to increase the value of care and improve outcomes.”
“The fact that one of the largest health systems in the country selected our platform over the offerings of other well-established, and much bigger, companies once again demonstrates how the old approach to doing big data simply isn’t going to work in today’s healthcare environment,” said Stephen McHale, CEO, Explorys. “Explorys is excited to partner with Trinity Health and fuse both of our strong IT and informatics teams together to display the benefits healthcare can realize with a deeper insight its valuable data. A big network is just as important as big data. Adding Trinity Health to our nationwide network of leading healthcare organizations, such as Cleveland Clinic, St. Joseph Health System, and Centura Health, creates enormous opportunities for collective insight and delivery that will reshape how healthcare achieves risk and value-based care.”
Trinity Health will be implementing the Explorys Platform and Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) Application Suite, a set of SaaS-based applications that provide predictive analytics, population management, performance measurement and effective engagement and outreach to patients and providers.
